Several leading AI executives, including Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Demis Hassabis, Satya Nadella, and Elon Musk, have recently called for regulation of AI technologies. This is part of a long history of warnings about AI risks, dating back to 19th-century concerns and continuing through key figures like Alan Turing and Bill Joy. Elon Musk notably began advocating for AI regulation publicly in 2017, after investing in AI ventures.
