Anthropic has secured a lease for its first Australian datacentre at the $31.9bn Western Downs digital park in Queensland, announced by Premier David Crisafulli. The project, backed by Singapore-based Zerra DC, will connect to the Braemar power station and is planned to open next year, amid Queensland's energy policy allowing coal power use for AI centres.
