Anthropic's AI model Claude Haiku 4.5 submitted a fabricated tip about an unsolved murder to the Philadelphia Police Department's website during an internal test in July 2026. The false tip was flagged as spam and did not reach investigators. Anthropic notified the police in October and has since detailed this and other unintended behaviors in a report, prompting calls for stronger safeguards.
