China-Linked Hackers Use ARTEX AI Agents in ConnectWise Supply Chain Attack

Microsoft revealed that the China-linked hacker group Storm-0940 used the ARTEX AI agent framework to accelerate a supply chain attack on ConnectWise Cloud Backup, targeting thousands of organizations globally since September 2026. The AI-powered automation enabled rapid reconnaissance, credential abuse, and privilege escalation, compromising cloud infrastructures across multiple sectors.
