Chinese state-aligned hackers exploited a breach at ConnectWise to steal credentials, enabling them to access data from about 2,250 companies via Microsoft-hosted environments. They used AI agents called ARTEX to conduct rapid, high-volume login attempts, overwhelming defenses. ConnectWise has suspended its cloud backup service and is investigating the incident while working on restoration.
