Decades-Old Anonymized Medical Data May Cause AI Misdiagnoses Now

Researchers from Germany and the UK found that AI systems trained on decades-old anonymized medical data may misdiagnose current patients by recalling outdated health information, causing risks of false positives or missed conditions. This memorization bias is worsened by localized datasets, increasing chances of AI fixating on old patient data rather than generalizing.
