EU plans to let Frontex monitor social media and flag posts for removal

The European Commission proposes giving Frontex, the EU border agency, authority to monitor public social media posts about migration and flag illegal content for removal, raising concerns about surveillance of online speech. Frontex would also expand its border enforcement capacity and budget.
