Google and Meta jointly open-sourced TorchTPU, a native PyTorch backend for Cloud TPUs, announced at PyTorch Conference 2026. TorchTPU replaces PyTorch/XLA, supports eager and compiled modes, and runs efficiently on TPU generations up to Ironwood (TPU7x).
