Huawei tells some clients to source their own HBM, report says

Huawei's upcoming Ascend 960DT AI chip will rely on high-bandwidth memory (HBM) from Samsung and SK Hynix, despite US export restrictions barring these sales to China. Due to limited Chinese HBM production, Huawei has asked some customers to procure the memory themselves, with reports of smuggling routes circumventing export controls.
