OpenAI employs hundreds of contractors under Project Lily to review and rate ChatGPT conversations, with some personal data visible despite privacy filters. The company has been fined in Italy for inadequate legal basis and transparency about this practice. Other AI firms like Anthropic and Google also use human reviewers with varying privacy measures.
