Japan and the US are discussing a GlobalFoundries chip plant under their $550bn pact, Nikkei reports

Japan and the US are negotiating to establish a semiconductor factory operated by GlobalFoundries as part of a $550 billion investment pact. The plant, valued between $12.9 billion and $19.3 billion, will focus on mature and specialty logic chips, not advanced AI processors.
