Japan defense chief urges ASEAN unity, warns "dangerous miscalculations"

Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth agreed in the Philippines to boost defense spending and strategic cooperation to deter China in the First Island Chain region. They also discussed Japan's security strategy update and ongoing talks after a U.S. Marine's arrest in Okinawa.
