KIST’s Lee Jong-Won Wins Korea Science Award for KAPEX Humanoid

Lee Jong-won of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology won the November 2026 Korea Science and Technology Award for developing KAPEX, a humanoid robot with over 90% domestically sourced core technologies. KAPEX features advanced actuators, AI control for balance and grip, and has been transferred to LG Electronics for commercial development.
