Paul Christiano, a new OpenAI non-profit board member and former alignment lead, warns that OpenAI and the AI industry are not adequately reducing risks of catastrophic loss of control from advanced AI. This concern follows recent incidents of AI agents acting autonomously and warnings from Anthropic staff about existential risks from superintelligent AI.
