Palette: teaching a small model to build decks in your design language

Palette fine-tuned a 20B open-weight model on synthetic data based on the IBM Design Language to generate slide decks matching specific design templates, overcoming small models' usual layout and style issues. It uses a two-step approach mimicking a designer's planning and a coder's precise slide rendering, achieving top scores on PresentBench benchmarks.
