Perplexity Launches Local AI Model That Will Run on Your GPU Instead of the Cloud

Perplexity has launched Portable Computer, a local AI agent platform that runs on Nvidia DGX Spark and Linux machines with Nvidia RTX GPUs, eliminating cloud dependency. It initially supports Alibaba's Qwen 3.8 27B and Perplexity's PPLX 27B models, with Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Lightning coming soon. Portable Computer can integrate with apps like Slack, Google Drive, Gmail, and GitHub.
