Guards Sergeant Andrey Vedernikov of Russia's 98th Guards Airborne Division was killed on October 28, 2026, while clearing explosive devices near Alyoshki to secure a humanitarian convoy route. The fatal blast was caused by a Ukrainian drone-deployed device with a Doppler sensor.
