Texas halts new data centers as governor calls for audits

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has halted new data center projects pending audits by the Public Utility Commission and ERCOT due to a surge in connection requests that could strain the state's power grid. The interconnection queue has nearly doubled to 474 gigawatts, mostly from data centers, raising concerns about grid capacity and rising electricity prices.
