Sanxingdui: Future Past, China's first fully AI-generated feature film, cost $1.5 million to produce but earned only about $180,000 in its first four days in theaters. The film features AI-generated actors, voices, and backdrops, and was licensed as an animated feature due to lack of an AI film category. Despite heavy promotion and over 10,000 screenings, audience turnout was low, reflecting skepticism toward AI in feature films compared to short videos.
