A federal judge dismissed antitrust lawsuits from Chegg and Penske Media alleging Google abused monopoly power by using AI Overviews to divert web traffic and harm publishers' revenue. The judge ruled that publishers' expectations of traffic do not constitute agreements and that antitrust law does not cover economic impacts of new innovations. Google is piloting payments to about 100 publishers for content used in AI features.
